Two metres wide WILDLIFE STRIPS have been established around some fields and hedges are being restored. This is grant aided under DEFRA's "Country Stewardship Scheme", which has been an invaluable catalyst, in particular for the cutting and laying of derelict hedges. Much tree planting has been done recently and the aim is to plant at least 1000 NEW TREES EACH YEAR, including cricket bat willows, Spanish chestnut, cherry, ash, oak, Corsican pine, birch, sycamore and poplars.
